In collaboration with Tiki historian and cocktail author Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, Omni Hotels & Resorts has launched Tiki Social. The Tiki-inspired cocktail experience, open to both Omni guests and the public, transforms indoor and outdoor bar spaces at select Omni properties into immersive, tropical-themed pop-up barwith extended evening hours every Friday and Saturday
Berry, owner of Latitude 29 restaurant in New Orleans, crafted an expanded menu of eight original cocktails and two zero-proof drinks for Tiki Social in partnership with Omni’s bar team. The cocktails, which Berry says “were designed to make every sip feel like a mini vacation,” include:
- The Coconutty Islander, served in a fresh coconut and made with platinum rum, Coco Reàl, passion fruit liqueur, coconut water, lime, macadamia liqueur;
- Totem’s Kiss (choice of gold rum or vodka, Vanilla Reàl, allspice liqueur, lime, orange, cinnamon, bitters);
- Mai Tai Have Another (gold rum, dark Jamaican rum, orgeat, orange, lime);
- The Tropical Tease (blanco tequila, mezcal, Raspberry Reàl, lemon, pineapple, crème de cacao);
- The Bitter Birdie (rum, Campari, pineapple liqueur, lime, bitters);
- and Donovan’s Reef (malt Scotch, Crisp Apple Reàl, lemon, pineapple, triple sec, chili liqueur).
Tiki Social began on Memorial Day Weekend and runs through Labor Day. While all Omni properties will feature a limited selection of Tiki Social cocktails at their lobby bars, 11 select locations will offer the full pop-up experience and menu, including nonalcoholic options such as the Designated Diver and the Dry Tai, a spirit-free twist on the Mai Tai.
