Remus Bourbon has introduced Remus Repeal Reserve Series X, the 10th release in its annual Repeal Reserve collection. The brand also expanded the collection with Remus Repeal Reserve Rye Whiskey, its first rye whiskey release.
The Remus Repeal Reserve Series has commemorated the repeal of Prohibition with an annual blended bourbon release inspired by George Remus. Series X combines three mash bills: LBSV, LESV and LISV.
Master Distiller Ian Stirsman blended multiple batches aged between 2008 and 2017 for the release. Remus bottles Series X at 107 proof.
According to the company, the bourbon has aromas of French oak, vanilla, tobacco and dark chocolate. The palate includes almond croissant, vanilla, oak and pistachio, followed by English toffee and candied almond on the finish.
Remus also introduced Remus Repeal Reserve Rye Whiskey as a limited-edition straight rye. The whiskey includes reserves from 2015 and 2016 made with Remus’ 95% rye mash bill and bottles at 111 proof.
The company describes the rye as having aromas of butterscotch, caramel, French oak and cardamom. Its palate includes mint, star anise, toffee and fennel, followed by candy-coated fennel seed on the finish.
“Series X captures everything the Repeal Reserve collection has stood for over the last ten years, pushing the boundaries of what a blended bourbon can be while honoring the history behind it,” said Stirsman. “And with our first-ever rye, we get to show a different side of our expertise. We’re proud to share both releases as a true reflection of our craft.”
Remus Repeal Reserve Series X and Remus Repeal Reserve Rye Whiskey will arrive at select retailers nationwide beginning in September while supplies last. Both releases carry a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
This follows the release of Remus Bourbon Lou Gehrig Reserve Bourbon.
