Remus Bourbon has launched Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve Bourbon, the latest release in its baseball-focused reserve series. The brand follows its 2024 and 2025 Remus Babe Ruth Reserve releases with a new bourbon honoring Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig.
MGP Ingredients said Master Distiller Ian Stirsman created the bourbon using four mash bills in reference to Gehrig’s No. 4 jersey. The whiskey carries a 109 proof to mark the 100th anniversary of Gehrig’s 109 RBI season in 1926. The company will release 9,665 bottles nationwide, representing the number of plate appearances during Gehrig’s career.
A QR code on the back label links consumers to details from the specific game tied to their bottle’s plate appearance number.
“In the 1920s, only one man was worthy of following Babe Ruth in the lineup, and that was the great Lou Gehrig. In 2026, the same holds true,” says Stirsman. “Every detail was thoughtfully created to celebrate his legacy in a meaningful way, while maintaining the craftsmanship of Remus Bourbon that drinkers love and expect from our distillery.”
The blend includes 14% 2016 bourbon with a 44% rye mash bill, 70% 2017 bourbon with a 49% rye mash bill, 8% 2019 bourbon with a 99% corn mash bill and 8% 2019 bourbon with a 36% rye mash bill.
According to the company, the bourbon features cinnamon and nutmeg on the nose with leather and clove notes. The palate has brown sugar, plum and marshmallow followed by baking spice, toasted cedar and cinnamon on the finish.
The bottle includes an embossed baseball diamond-shaped label and a baseball bat knob closure.
Alongside the launch, Remus Bourbon will donate $9,665 to the Live Like Lou Foundation, contributing one dollar for each of Gehrig’s career plate appearances. The organization funds ALS research and support programs for affected families.
The brand also plans a social media campaign tied to the release. Remus Bourbon will donate an additional dollar for every like and comment on launch-related Instagram posts, up to $2,130 in recognition of Gehrig’s consecutive games played streak.
“Partnerships like this are powerful because they turn awareness into action for the ALS community,” says Wendy Faust, of Live Like Lou. “At Live Like Lou, we are committed to supporting families facing ALS today while investing in research to change the future of this disease. Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve honors Lou’s legacy in a meaningful way, bringing people together to raise critical funds, expand awareness, and help us continue our important work.”
Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve rolls out in select markets with a suggested retail price of $129.99 per 750-ml. bottle. Consumers can also purchase the release through ReserveBar.
This follows the release of Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 2.
