For this MGP bourbon, Master Distiller Ian Stirsman blended multiple batches from years between 2008 and 2017. Remus X comes bottled at 107 proof. The suggested retail price is $79.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
Nose
Bourbony bourbon: vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, stone fruits, sweet barrel, with notes of cigar and sawdust.
Palate
The stone fruits become more pronounced, with cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee and a wonderful spice backbone that blooms on the backend, just in time. Very well balanced, super drinkable, no flaws.
Finish
Medium-length finish with burnt chocolate, darker fruits and lingering barrel spice.
Upshot
How has it already been a decade of Remus Repeal Reserves? This series was all over the map until the magical fifth installment, when it locked in and has remained good to great ever since. And honestly, I think 10 is my second favorite after 5. This is so balanced and refined. Not a single speed bump from beginning to end. This is bourbony bourbon, as the saying goes: sweet and spicy, classic flavors done right. I thought releases 6 through 9 were B+/A- bottles; this is an A, second only to the A+ V. This is a notch above the solid Remus Repeal Rye 2026, and an obvious buy anywhere near SRP.
