10 Wicked Good Cocktails

The highly anticipated movie based on the popular play Wicked hits theaters on Nov. 22, and mixologists are just as excited as the fans. Bartenders and alcohol brands have been sending us plenty of Wicked-themed cocktails — mostly in shades of pink and green — in recent weeks. Here are 10 that we like.

Emerald City Gimlet

Course Drinks
Keyword basil, gin, lime, Simple syrup

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Empress 1908 cucumber lemon gin
  • ¾ oz. Fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz. Simple syrup
  • 5-6 Basil leaves

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
  • Gently muddle basil to release aromatics.
  • Shake over ice and fine-strain into cocktail glass.
  • Garnish with cucumber ribbon on a cocktail pick.

The Good Witch

Course Drinks
Keyword Grenadine, pink lemonade, sparkling rosé, vodka

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. Hampton Water Bubbly sparkling rosé
  • 1 oz. Pink lemonade
  • ½ oz. Grenadine
  • 1 oz. Tito’s vodka
  • Fresh raspberries or strawberries
  • Lemon wheel

Instructions

  • In a shaker filled with ice, combine the pink lemonade and vodka.
  • Shake well then strain the mixture into a Champagne flute or a coupe glass.
  • Slowly top with sparkling rosé, allowing the bubbles to rise.
  • Drizzle grenadine gently into the glass to create an ombre effect.
  • Garnish with fresh raspberries or strawberries and a lemon wheel on the rim.

Witch’s Redemption

Course Drinks
Keyword honey, lemon, matcha, mint, whiskey

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey
  • 1 oz. Matcha honey syrup*
  • ¾ oz. Fresh lemon juice
  • 6-8 mint leaves plus top of a mint sprig

Instructions

  • Add the mint leaves (preserving the top of the sprig) to the small half of a cocktail tin.
  • Add the matcha honey syrup and gently press the mint into the syrup with a cocktail muddler, or another blunt object.
  • Add the fresh lemon juice and whiskey.
  • Add 5 ice cubes to the tin, seal with the other side and shake hard for 8-10 seconds.
  • Double strain (using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer) into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  • Garnish with the top of a mint sprig. For added aromatics, gently tap the mint to the back of your hand before tucking it into the glass.

Notes

*For Matcha honey syrup
Combine 4 oz. of water with 1 tsp. matcha green tea powder in a small saucepan. Whisk or stir to combine, until all powder is dissolved. Gently heat the mixture on medium-low and add 6 oz. of honey, stirring until the honey is incorporated. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool. Make sure to mix the syrup before use as it is natural for the matcha powder to separate.

Pink Potion

Keyword Campari, Hendrick’s gin, pineapple, Simple syrup, strawberries

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ part Hendrick’s Gin
  • ¼ part Campari
  • ½ part pineapple juice fresh is best!
  • ½ part Lime juice
  • ¼ part Simple syrup
  • 2 ripe Strawberries

Instructions

  • Muddle strawberries in the shaker.
  • Add remaining ingredients and shake over ice.
  • Strain into an Old Fashioned glass with fresh ice and top with soda.
  • Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cucumber flower.

Green Elixir

Course Drinks
Keyword Ancho Reyes Verde chile liqueur, green pepper juice, Hendrick’s gin, lemon, Simple syrup

Ingredients

  • ½ part Hendrick’s Gin
  • ½ part Ancho Reyes Verde chile poblano liqueur
  • 1 part Green bell pepper juice
  • ¾ part Lemon juice
  • ½ part Simple syrup

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake well and strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with English cucumber slices and serve.

You’re Gonna Be Popular

Course Drinks
Keyword lemon, Simple syrup, sparkling rosé, tequila

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz. Patrón Silver tequila
  • ¾ oz. Lemon juice
  • ¾ oz. Simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Rosé sparkling wine

Instructions

  • Combine tequila, lemon juice and simple syrup in a mixing glass.
  • Add ice, shake thoroughly and strain into a chilled flute.
  • Top with rosé sparkling wine.
  • Garnish with edible flowers and sprinkle silver dust on top petals.

For Good Green Matcha

Course Drinks
Keyword aquafaba, Brown sugar, citrus sherbet, matcha, tequila

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ oz. Patrón Silver tequila
  • 1 ¼ oz. Citrus sherbet
  • ½ oz. Pretzel syrup brown sugar as a easier substitute
  • ½ g. Matcha green tea
  • ¾ oz. Aquafaba

Instructions

  • Shake all ingredients with ice.
  • Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a sprinkle of gold dust atop the matcha foam.

Good Witch Gin Fizz

Course Drinks
Keyword elderflower liqueur, gin, lemon, prosecco, Simple syrup, strawberry puree

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz. Fear City Spirits gin
  • ½ oz. Elderflower liqueur
  • ½ oz. Fresh strawberry puree
  • ¾ oz. Fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz. Simple syrup
  • Prosecco

Instructions

  • In a shaker, combine ingredients (except prosecco) with ice.
  • Shake well until chilled, then strain into a flute or coupe glass.
  • Top with prosecco for a bubbly finish.
  • Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice or a sprig of thyme.

Emerald Curse

Course Drinks
Keyword Crème de Cacao, creme de menthe, gin, milk, mint chololate chip ice cream

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz. Fear City Spirits gin
  • 1 oz. Crème de menthe
  • 1 oz. Crème de cacao or chocolate liqueur
  • 3 large scoops Mint chocolate chip ice cream
  • ¼ cup Milk adjust for preferred thickness
  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Crushed chocolate chips or dark chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  • In a blender, combine the liquid ingredients.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour into a chilled glass.
  • Garnish the rim of the glass with melted chocolate and roll in mini chocolate chips.
  • Top with whipped cream.
  • Garnish with fresh mint.

The Wizard & I

Course Drinks
Keyword aloe liqueur, Green Chartreuse, lime, pineapple

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Dulce Vida reposado tequila
  • 1 oz. Fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz. Chareau aloe liqueur
  • 1 oz. Green Chartreuse
  • ¼ oz. Pineapple juice

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a shaker tin set.
  • Fill with ice, shake hard for 8 seconds.
  • Double strain using a Hawthorne and fine strainer into a coupe glass.
  • Garnish with a dehydrated pineapple slice.
