90+ Cellars Unveils Discovery Series With Pecorino, Torrontés

90+ Cellars, the Boston-based wine brand from Latitude Beverage, has launched its Discovery Series, a new collection focused on wine regions and grape varieties that receive less recognition among U.S. consumers.

The series debuts with two white wines: Lot 236 Pecorino from Italy and Lot 240 Torrontés from Argentina.

Both wines carry a suggested retail price under $15.

90+ Cellars launched in 2009 and sources wines from producers and regions around the world. The company created the Discovery Series in response to consumer interest in grape varieties and regions beyond established wine categories.

“Today’s younger wine drinkers are much more adventurous,” said Alexandra Shaughnessy, Wine Director at 90+ Cellars. “They’re less concerned with whether they’ve heard of the grape or region and more interested in discovering wines with great stories, incredible quality and outstanding value.”

Lot 236 Pecorino comes from vineyards in Abruzzo, Italy. Pecorino is an indigenous Italian white grape that has returned to commercial production after declining during the 20th century. According to 90+ Cellars, the wine offers citrus, floral notes and saline minerality.

Lot 240 Torrontés comes from the Cafayate Valley in Salta, Argentina. The region sits at high elevation and has become associated with Torrontés production. 90+ Cellars describes the dry wine as offering citrus and floral notes.

The two wines are available at select retailers and through 90+ Cellars’ website. The company plans to add two wines to the Discovery Series later this year, with a focus on additional grape varieties and wine regions.
