James B. Beam Distilling Co. has introduced Knob Creek 9 Year Old: Independence Edition, a limited-edition release commemorating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
The release marks the first time Knob Creek has changed the color of its signature wax seal. The bottle features a blue wax seal and a red, white and blue label. It joins commemorative releases from Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark as part of the company’s America 250 collection.
The bourbon itself remains unchanged from the standard Knob Creek 9 Year Old expression. James B. Beam Distilling Co. ages the bourbon for nine years in American white oak barrels and bottles it at 100 proof.
The company says the bourbon offers notes of vanilla, caramel and charred oak.
Knob Creek 9 Year Old: Independence Edition is available nationwide for a limited time with a suggested retail price of $36.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
Knob Creek launched in 1992. Booker Noe, the sixth-generation master distiller at James B. Beam Distilling Co., created the brand and named it after the Kentucky creek near Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home. Fred Noe and Freddie Noe now oversee the brand’s bourbon-making tradition.
From the producer this follows the recent release of Jim Beam Little Book Chapter 10.
