Jose Cuervo has introduced a new line of tequila-based ready-to-drink canned cocktails, expanding its presence in the growing RTD category.
The new Cuervo Canned Cocktails line includes four flavors: Classic Margarita, Paloma, Strawberry Margarita and Pink Lemonade. The products contain real Cuervo tequila and have an ABV of 5.9%.
The cocktails are available in 8-can variety packs, single-flavor 4-packs and individual cans.
According to the company, the lineup was developed to offer consumers a lower-ABV tequila-based RTD option. The products enter the market as spirit-based RTDs continue to gain share. Cuervo cited industry data showing spirit-based RTDs increased 30% over the past year, while RTDs in the 5% to 5.9% ABV range hold the second-largest market share within the segment.

Cuervo also cited internal performance data indicating its canned cocktail range has grown at more than three times the rate of the overall RTD category, and more than 15 times the rate of legacy RTD brands affiliated with established spirits companies.

Cuervo Canned Cocktails carry suggested retail prices of $18.99 for the 8-can variety pack, $9.99 for 4-packs and $2.99 for individual cans.
