Russell’s Reserve will release a new batch of its annual 13 Year Old Bourbon this spring, while also debuting a documentary about Master Distiller Eddie Russell as he marks 45 years with Wild Turkey Distilling Co.
Russell began working at the Lawrenceburg, KY distillery in 1981. During his career, he has held a range of production roles, and helped develop the Russell’s Reserve brand, which Wild Turkey launched to recognize his father Jimmy Russell’s 45th anniversary with the company. Eddie now reaches the same milestone himself.
To commemorate this achievement, Russell’s Reserve will release a spring 2026 edition of Russell’s Reserve 13 Year Old Bourbon featuring a commemorative label. The company will also premiere a short documentary titled His Own Way: The Story of Eddie Russell, which follows Russell’s career and influence on the brand.
“Russell’s Reserve has always been deeply personal to me. It started as a way to honor my dad and everything he taught me,” says Eddie. “Now, the opportunity to celebrate my own 45 years with a new release of the 13 Year Old – a bourbon that really showcases how I approach the craft – and to see my story shared through this film, is incredibly special.”
The 2026 release of Russell’s Reserve 13 Year Old Bourbon comes bottled at 121.2 proof (60.6% ABV). According to the company, the bourbon has aromas of vanilla, oak, brown sugar, coffee and orange peel. The palate contains cherry, citrus, nutmeg, allspice and cola notes, followed by a finish with caramel, toffee and oak tannins.
Bruce Russell, associate master blender and Eddie’s son, says a barrel selected during filming became part of the release.
“My dad has given his entire life to this craft, and to see him reach 45 years is so special,” Bruce explains. “While we were filming, Dad actually pulled an 18 year old barrel and we tasted it together – of course, it was exceptional. That barrel ended up in this year’s 13 Year Old release. It was just one of those moments that felt so true to who Dad is and what he does best. To have that captured on camera, and that barrel in this year’s release, makes it all even more meaningful.”
Russell’s Reserve will distribute this allocated release in limited quantities through its visitor center, online channels and retailers nationwide. The suggested retail price is $200 for a 750-ml. bottle.
The documentary will debut June 23 at select Alamo Drafthouse locations across the country. The screening will precede a showing of Field of Dreams for attendees who purchase a food and beverage voucher.
The release continues a series of milestone bottlings tied to the Russell family’s role in the Wild Turkey brand.
