Proof & Wood Ventures has released Tumblin’ Dice 13 Year Rye Whiskey, a straight rye whiskey made from a 95% rye mashbill and bottled at barrel proof after 13 years of aging.
The brand uses label designs tied to the whiskey’s age statement. For the 13 Year Rye, Proof & Wood introduced two label formats: one featuring dice showing 6, 6 and 1, and another featuring a 13-sided die inspired by tabletop gaming.
“This is what Tumblin’ Dice is all about,” says Dave Schmier, founder of Proof & Wood Ventures. “Find great barrels, be honest about what’s in the bottle, and don’t overcomplicate it. Thirteen years at barrel proof gives this rye real weight — it doesn’t need much else.”
Schmier has worked with MGP’s 95% rye mashbill for more than 16 years. Before founding Proof & Wood Ventures, he co-created a rye whiskey brand in the category.
The Tumblin’ Dice portfolio includes high rye bourbon, rye whiskey and a single barrel program ranging from 6 to 12 years old. Over the past year, the company also added rye whiskeys finished in Jamaican rum, French orange liqueur and maple syrup barrels.
Tumblin’ Dice 13 Year Rye Whiskey will reach select retailers in limited quantities. The suggested retail price is $120 per 750-ml. bottle.
