Layers of floral, citrus, spices and herbs, rounded out by a thick texture of estate-grown honey, are the notes I was able to pull my first time tasting Silent Pool Gin.
Personally, I find it hard to enjoy gin without feeling like I’m being pelted in the face with juniper, but this wasn’t the case with Silent Pool Gin. The spirit was so smooth that I was able to pick up on some of the other 23 botanicals, such as rose, lavender and timur pepper.
Drawing Inspiration From Nature

During the tasting, Silent Pool Distillers’ global brand ambassador Mari Zoelle explained the genesis behind the gin brand and how they get such a versatile profile.
Located on the Duke of Northumberland’s Albury Estate, a group of friends came together in 2015 and set up Silent Pool Distillers on the banks of the legendary and mystical Silent Pool, known for its clear blue water.
“We pay the Duke for being there with bottles of our gin, which has been working out great for us,” Zoelle said.
The distillery also drew inspiration from the Silent Pool for its bottle design. The teal color of the gin bottle reflects the natural phenomenon of Silent Pool’s jewel-like coloring, according to Zoelle, a result of rainwater being filtered through the pool’s chalk and phosphate bed. Adorning the bottle in handcrafted copper are intricate botanical illustrations, subtly hinting at the legends surrounding Silent Pool.
Silent Pool Gin Available Nationwide
Previously only available in select few countries in Europe, an acquisition from William Grant & Sons in the fall of 2023 has helped the gin boost its presence, particularly in the U.S. While Silent Pool Gin has been in limited availability in the States before, May of 2024 marked the start of its broad distribution, making it available nationwide.
Now, consumers all across the U.S. including myself, can enjoy Silent Pool Gin neat or mixed into a cocktail. Bottled at 43% ABV with an SRP of $59.99, the spirit is also sold in more than 30 countries.
