Tequila Ocho Unveils Puntas 2026

Tequila Ocho has released Puntas 2026, the brand’s first Puntas bottling in two years, and its first to receive global distribution.

Puntas 2026 is also the first Puntas release in Tequila Ocho’s single-region, multi-field Terroir Select vintages. At 110 proof, the tequila reaches the highest proof permitted by law for tequila.

Puntas refers to the portion of an agave spirit collected at the end of the heads cut and the beginning of the heart cut during distillation. Distillers traditionally set aside the cut for special occasions. Other high-proof tequilas use the heart cut rather than the Puntas cut.

Tequila Ocho made Puntas 2026 with agaves harvested from five fields in the Rio Lerma zone at elevations above 5,000 feet. The area forms a natural border between Jalisco and Michoacán.

The resulting tequila has aromas of guava, green pineapple, kiwi, apple, white pepper, olives and bell pepper, according to the company. The palate includes cooked agave, lemon peel, sour orange and tamarind, along with smoky notes and ripe pineapple. The finish has eucalyptus and menthol.

Tequila Ocho will release 2,200 nine-liter cases in the U.S. through on-premise accounts and retail stores. The company will also make a limited allocation available through duty-free retailers in Mexico, and select European markets and the U.S.

The suggested retail price is $74.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
