The Youth Alcohol Awareness and Education Foundation – founded by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to help prevent underage drinking – has announced the return of its high school alcohol education program for fall 2026. The program will provide education and resources to students in Broward and Miami-Dade counties in Florida; Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties in Texas; and Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Queens and Richmond counties in New York.
Alcohol Education: Safe and Smart, developed by digital education provider Everfi, is comprised of five digital lessons (10 minutes each) and up to three and a half hours of offline learning resources. The program delivers science-based alcohol education through engaging activities that challenge perceptions and promote healthy decision-making.
The five lessons, Making Smart Choices; Know Your Influences; Understanding Alcohol’s Impact; Smart Decisions; and Bringing It All Together, help equip students with the confidence and awareness to make positive choices about alcohol. The program has delivered impressive results.
For example, students participating in Alcohol Education: Safe and Smart for the 2025-2026 school year improved their assessment scores from 57% before the course to 90% after completion, resulting in a 33% knowledge increase. What’s more, 93% of students who completed the course reported feeling prepared to make responsible decisions in the future.
The program debuted in 2017 in South Florida and expanded to Texas in 2019 then New York in 2020. Since launching, Alcohol Education: Safe and Smart has made an impact for 61,015 students across 351 high schools and has offered 87,496 hours of educational instruction.
