Registration is now open for the 4th annual Great Lakes Indigenous Cannabis and Hemp Summit, hosted by the national Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, on February 25. The summit brings together Tribal leaders, policymakers, medical professionals and industry experts to examine cannabis policy, plant medicine and Indigenous-led solutions shaping the future of the Great Lakes region.
“Building on the momentum of our past national and state summits, the gathering centers Indigenous voices, solutions, and pathways forward–rooted in sovereignty, culture, and community,” said Rob Pero, founder of the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association and member of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians, in a news release.
On February 25th, the summit will feature keynotes and break out sessions led by industry professionals from across the Great Lakes region. Highlights on the agenda include:
- Wisconsin medical cannabis legislative updates
- Federal cannabis rescheduling and policy implications
- Federal hemp language and Farm Bill impacts
- Industrial hemp, climate-smart agriculture and supply chains
- Intertribal trade and cross-state collaboration
- Tribal and non-tribal operator updates from the Great Lakes region
- Medical professional and academic research perspectives
- Sovereignty-driven regulatory and business models
- Industry experts, policymakers and Indigenous leaders
A portion of the proceeds from the summit will benefit the Wisconsin Wellness campaign, according to event organizers, a joint effort of the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association and the Wisconsin Tribal Task Force on Cannabis to promote the accessibility of plant medicine in Wisconsin.
