Laphroaig has unveiled the 2018 edition of its collectable Cairdeas Scotch series: Laphroaig Cairdeas Fino Cask.
Each year, Laphroaig Distillery Manager, John Campbell, crafts a limited-edition malt to “celebrate friendship,” which is “Cairdeas” in Gaelic.
Released in limited quantities stateside as one of the most a highly anticipated Laphroaig offerings each year, the 2018 iteration, Cairdeas Fino Cask, features a double maturation of the liquid in first-fill bourbon barrels, and then finished in Fino Sherry casks.
The end result is a full-bodied, peaty whisky that’s unmistakably Laphroaig, the company says. It features notes of toasted almonds, dried fruit and sea salt, which complement the whisky’s peaty flavor.
Laphroaig Cairdeas Fino Cask is 103.6 proof (51.8% ABV). It’s available for a limited time at retail locations nationwide at a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
