SGWS Promotes Mark Chaplin to President, Commercial Sales

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer’s) has promoted Mark Chaplin to the newly created role of president, commercial sales. In this role, Mark Chaplin will report to Wayne Chaplin, president and CEO, and be responsible for leading strategic supplier objectives while assisting commercial sales divisions in execution of key initiatives.

Reporting to Mark Chaplin in his new role will be Chris Williams, executive vice president of national accounts and Rahul Sathe, senior vice president of commercial effectiveness, according to the company. In addition to his new responsibilities, Mark Chaplin will work collaboratively with John Wittig, chief commercial officer, and Gene Sullivan, chief sales & marketing officer, to ensure the company continues to achieve the objectives of its customer and supplier partners.

“Mark continues to demonstrate a capacity for high integrity leadership with each new role,” said Wayne Chaplin in a news release. “He has a track record of proven results, creating customer-centric solutions and helping our suppliers grow faster, smarter and better. I look forward to working more closely with him in this important new commercial role.”

Most recently, Mark Chaplin served as executive vice president, commercial sales. He began his career at Southern Glazer’s in 2018 as part of the East Region Commercial Strategy team before he was promoted to director of sales & commercial operations for the East Region, according to the company.

He then moved into the role of vice president, sales & marketing, before ultimately being promoted to senior vice president, sales & marketing. Mark Chaplin’s experience prior to Southern Glazer’s includes positions with Gallo Sales Company, Merrill Lynch, Grant Thornton and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, according to the company. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami in 2017.
