SGWS Appoints Scott Oppenheimer as Commercial Sales Advisor

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer’s) has appointed Scott Oppenheimer to the role of commercial sales advisor, effective July 1, 2025. In this capacity, Oppenheimer will report to John Wittig, chief commercial officer, and continue to play a key role in supporting Southern Glazer’s long-term commercial strategy.

In his new advisory role, Oppenheimer will serve as chairman of Southern Glazer’s Travel Retail Sales & Export Division, formerly WEBB Banks, while also working closely with Wittig on the development and execution of the company’s overall Canadian Commercial strategy. He will also serve as a key advisor to Wittig’s commercial office, according to the company, providing strategic guidance on major commercial initiatives and project management across Southern Glazer’s four operating regions.

“Scott has been a tremendous leader at Southern Glazer’s, and we are fortunate to continue benefiting from his deep industry expertise in this new capacity,” said Wittig in a news release. “His leadership and strategic insight will be invaluable as we continue to drive commercial growth in key markets.”

Since joining Southern Glazer’s in 2002, Oppenheimer has held several key leadership roles, including regional president, Control States and Canada, according to the company. He most recently served as president, East Region, where he led operations across 10 U.S. markets and managed the company’s Caribbean and duty-free subsidiary. Prior to Southern Glazer’s, he held executive positions at Moët Hennessy USA, Millennium Import Company and E. & J. Gallo Winery.

“Scott’s impact on our business over the years has been significant, and we are grateful for his dedication, leadership, and passion for the industry,” said Wayne Chaplin, president and CEO, Southern Glazer’s, in the release. “As he steps into this new role, we know he will continue to be an essential part of our success. We look forward to his continued contributions in this next chapter.”

An announcement for Oppenheimer’s replacement is forthcoming.
