Frey Ranch Distillery announced the release of Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey – the latest offering in its Single Grain Series.
“As farmers first and foremost, we’ve always believed that if you care about how your food is grown then you should care just as much about how your whiskey is grown. At Frey Ranch Distillery, we call it farm-to-glass whiskey because we raise every single grain with one intention – to eventually become whiskey. With today’s release, we’re turning our attention to one of the global workhorses of whiskey production – barley. Because we decided to create the whiskey with unmalted barley, it offers a creamier, more viscous tasting experience than a traditional single malt,” said co-founder and whiskey farmer Colby Frey in a news release.
Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey in the making
Made from two-row unmalted barley, Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey was pot distilled, aged for four years and eight months and bottled at 110 proof, according to the distillery. The whiskey features hints of peanut butter and jelly on the nose, with notes of honey and allspice on the palate.
Other releases in the Single Grain Series include Frey Ranch American Single Malt Smoked Whiskey, Frey Ranch 100% Malted Corn Whiskey, Frey Ranch 100% Oat Whiskey and Frey Ranch 100% Wheat Whiskey. Available in 375-ml. bottles for $59.99, Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey may be purchased online at www.shop.freyranch.com and in the Fallon, NV-based Distillery Tasting Room, according to the distillery.
