What I’m Drinking Now: Jesse Caetano and the LA Woman

Jesse Caetano is director of food & beverage at 1 Hotel West Hollywood.

The LA Woman is one of our most popular cocktails at our Juniper Lounge and Garden, due to its perfect balance of acidity from citrus and the sweetness of our house-made saccharin blend, which includes passion fruit, mango and the floral notes of hibiscus.

We chose white rum for this cocktail, as it plays a pivotal role in harmonizing these flavors. Additionally, we proudly use Loft & Bear rum, a local product born in Downtown Los Angeles and California’s first Black-owned distillery.

LA Woman

Course Drinks
Keyword Hibiscus, lemon, mango, Passion fruit, Peychaud’s bitters, pineapple, rum, sparkling lemonade, Yuzuri yuzu liqueur

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz. Loft & Bear rum
  • ½ oz. Passion fruit/mango/hibiscus saccharin
  • ¼ oz. Pineapple juice
  • ½ oz. Yuzuri yuzu citrus liqueur
  • ¼ oz. Lemon juice
  • 2 oz. Fever Tree sparkling lemonade
  • 4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

Instructions

  • Add rum, passion fruit/mango/hibiscus saccharin, Yuzuri and juices to shaker.
  • Add ice and hard shake.
  • Strain into Collins or slim beer glass over fresh ice
  • Top with sparkling lemonade and bitters.
  • Garnish with lime peel.
