The Wine Group has sold its Charles Smith Wines to Seattle-based beverage company Ackley Brands. The deal, which closed on Aug. 8, 2024, well-known brands such as Kung Fu Girl, Eve, The Velvet Devil, Band of Roses, Boom Boom!, and Chateau Smith.
The purchase involves the brands and inventory; it does not include any properties, physical assets or personnel. The acquired wine brands have a combined production of over 160,000 cases annually.
The acquisition marks another milestone for Ackley Brands, which has quadrupled in size over the past 12 months. The company’s recent buys include Pacific Northwest brands Hogue Cellars, Columbia Winery, Betz Family Wines, SUNU Wines, and Mac & Jack’s Brewing Company.
