Philip Brandes, founder of Bravus Brewing Co, a non-alcoholic brewery, just launched La Planta Reposado Tequila Alternative (SRP $34.99/750ml bottle), a premium non-alcoholic agave spirit under Brandes’ new Phil & Goode marque. The product will roll out nationally through the summer with initial availability through the Phil & Goode direct-to-consumer channel, the company states.
“It’s pretty amazing how close to the real thing La Planta tastes,” said Brandes in a news release. “Whereas other tequila alternatives have to be mixed in a cocktail, La Planta is right at home neat or over ice with a twist of lime.”
La Planta is made with agave, oak, filtered water, natural tequila flavor and white button mushroom fiber extract. The white button mushrooms work both as a natural preservative and a functional ingredient, the company states. The tequila alternative then undergoes a manufacturing process that keeps the alcohol under 0.5% ABV.
“Non-alcoholic beverages are supposed to be healthier, but many of them contain a ton of sugar, thickeners and nasty preservatives,” said Brandes. “I like to say that our offerings aren’t just better-for-you, they are ‘Goode’ for you.”
