This Cognac-based cocktail gets a kick from a pinch of Chinese five-spice powder.

Ingredients

  • 2 parts D’Ussé XO Cognac
  • ¾ parts Fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ parts Simple syrup
  • ¼ Chinese five-spice powder
  • 4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.
  • Garnish with star anise .
