Barrelsmith Ready to Drink Cocktails

Connecticut couple Martha Outlaw and Matt Ellenthal debut Barrelsmith, a new line of ready to pour cocktails — Negroni, Manhattan and Boulevardier. Barrelsmith cocktails are blended in small batches and then aged in oak barrels until finished.

  • Negroni (30% ABV) is made with London Dry Gin, Rosso Vermouth and Martha Outlaw’s liqueur
  • Manhattan (35% ABV) is a blend of straight rye whiskey, Rosso Vermouth and orange bitters
  • Boulevardier (30% ABV) is made with bourbon whiskey, Rosso Vermouth and Martha Outlaw’s liqueur

“It was a challenge, launching in a time of no in-person meetings or tastings,” said Matt Ellenthal. “But the reaction from liquor stores and restaurants here in Connecticut and beyond has been very enthusiastic. Anticipating a difficult supply chain, we planned ahead and stepped up our production to make sure there is plenty to go around.”

“We had to create our own vermouth and liqueur specifically for barrel-aging,” said Martha Outlaw. “We feel the results are even better than the best available retail brands. Pour them over ice, maybe add a twist or a cherry, and you have the most sublime cocktail you’ve ever tasted.”

Barrelsmith is available in 750-ml. bottles with a suggested retail price of $38. A variety pack of three, 100-ml. bottles with a suggested retail price of $25 is also available. Barrelsmith can be found online at Barrelsmith.com and at retailers in California, Connecticut, Vermont, Florida, Nevada, New Jersey and New York, with plans to expand distribution in late 2022.
