Basil Hayden’s Bourbon has announced the limited-time release of Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Reserve Rye.
Taking inspiration from the contrasting flavors of rye and rum, this is a blend of an 8-year-old Kentucky straight rye whiskey and a 4-year-old Canadian rye whisky, finished with black strap rum.
The ryes provide flavors of toasted oak and vanilla, the company says, while the rum adds sweet notes of brown sugar and molasses.
Keeping with the brand’s lighter profile, Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Reserve Rye is 80 proof.
Basil Hayden’s is no stranger to finishing its whiskeys with additional ingredients.
Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Reserve Rye is now available nationwide with a suggested retail price of $44.99 for a 750-ml. bottle. Look for it packaged in a deep blue parchment bib and wrapped with the copper belt iconic to Basil Hayden’s.
