Crystal Head Vodka, known for its skull bottle, has introduced a new expression of vodka: Aurora.
With an iridescent finish, the Aurora bottle was designed to reflect ‘the Northern Lights.’
Aurora is distilled in Newfoundland, Canada. It’s additive-free and made with English wheat grown in the hills of North Yorkshire, and with water from St. John’s, Newfoundland. The vodka is five times distilled in a traditional column still prior to filtration.
Aurora is filtered a total of seven times, the first three filtrations using activated charcoal, lasting six hours to remove impurities. Next it is filtered three times over 10,000 Herkimer diamonds before going through a micro filtration prior to bottling.
Because Aurora was crafted with English wheat, its flavors are drier, bolder and spicier than Crystal Head original, which is made from peaches and cream corn, the company says. On the nose, Aurora has floral aromas and a hint of anise, the company reports; the taste profile includes peppercorn notes and a touch of sweetness.
Crystal Head Aurora Vodka is available in 750-ml. bottles for a suggested retail price of $59.99.
